Not The Concours 2021 -
Due to the ongoing nature of the global pandemic and our federal governments inability to live up to their announcement's, CLQ have been faced with the unenviable task of determining the likelihood of a COVID 19 outbreak in Brisbane in July, which we have determined as 'possible'.
For the collective understanding of yourself dear reader and the wider motorcycling community, particularly those whom have previously chosen to attend our beloved Concours de Elegance, be that beneath the Story Bridge, before civilisation caught up with us in the form of a local member, whom may have previously watched 'The Wild Bunch', or possibly been the subject of a 200KpH flyby - I cannot be sure, regardless they didn't believe in Loud Pipes saving lives and subsequently booted us out of our park bench home. To our latest locale with the generous and supportive Redland Shire, your ongoing support has made that transition, through flood, flood, mud and calendar changes a joy to embrace, through these events, we have collectively persevered - Bravo to you and Bravo to the guys and gals of Club Laverda Queensland.
Sadly though, with the knowledge that there is a possibility that the Concours in its typical guise may be halted with less than a month/week/24hrs notice, renders CLQ unable to proceed this year.
For your understanding, as CLQ are a 'not for profit' entity, we hold enough coin in the bank to cover the cost of putting on the show, charitable donation and the odd family fun day (By Family fun day, i mean we go riding somewhere and slip into the life of Hero's and Heroines over couple of cold cleansing ales - 'WE ARE FAMILY'). This financial leanness however, dictates that we are unable to endure the losses associated with a halted or stalled Concours. That said, we as a club are determined to channel our efforts into an alternative event, one that whilst not of the same scale as our Concours De Elegance, will still provide for sectors of the motorcycling community of Queensland to have a winters day in the sun.
We will keep you posted for the whatever 'Not the Concours' looks like in 2021.
Our best thoughts and wishes to you all as we collectively navigate this next stage in the Covid Reset
